Warli Painting
Warli , art named after a tribe in Maharashtra.
You can easily recognize this art as you see beautiful basic geometric shapes
circle, triangle and squares combined together to form nature and human images
painted with only white color on brick
red background.
Warli painting is
mainly done by ADIVASI from North Sahyadri range in Maharashtra, India. Warli
tradition is supposed to stretching back to 3000BC.
There are no
mythological characters or god ,goddesses in warli but it shows pictures of
human nature and day to day activity of people in very artistic and rhythmic
patterns. You will see people are dancing, hunting farming etc. in the
paintings.
In present days,
artists like Jiyva Soma Mashe are reviving this art form and is exhibited in
galleries around the world.
